Surrounding his clients with natural elements that make them feel good, that please the design sense and creates a setting that invites people to the outdoor elements is Steve DeBiasi's goal.  He creates these elements with inspiration from the many places he has lived and worked; from his hometown of Noank, Connecticut where he grew up on the Mystic River where it opened to the Long Island Sound and served as his own private wonderland, to the inspiration of Hawai’i’s tropical environment, and around the Pacific Rim with it’s many Asian influences; these diverse styles and cultures have expanded DeBiasi’s design expertise to create the natural elements for which he is so well known.

Fuse that design sense with DeBiasi Pacific’s commitment to customer service, and you have a company that is dedicated to creating an outstanding experience for their clients.  This commitment is aided by a staff that has worked together as a team for many years.

When Steve DeBiasi arrived in Hawai’i halfway through college, his first project was working with renowned landscape architect James C. Hubbard in designing the Flora Pacifica Exhibition, transforming the ground floor of the University of Hawai’i’ Art Building into a Southeast Asian paradise, complete with bamboo bridges over ponds and lush gardens.  As the vision emerged, DeBiasi could see that they were making the most creative and incredible garden features.

In 1983, DeBiasi started his own landscaping business, commuting to Guam where he honed his skills in the design and construction of natural and architectural pools.  After 9-11, he brought his business back to Hawai’i, where commercial and residential water features have earned his company an excellent reputation. The company’s impressive list of completed projects includes the outdoor spaces of First Hawaiian Bank and Bank of Hawaii, the Honolulu Academy of Arts and hotel chains including Hilton, Hyatt, Westin and Outrigger.

He draws on that expertise to bring the boutique resort experience into homes. DeBiasi Pacific’s ingeniously crafted infinity pools, water features and landscaping have been featured in magazines. “We just did an outdoor shower for a client,” says DeBiasi. “The walls are rock with plants growing from them and the ceiling opens up to the sky. You can look up and see the stars at night.”

The cool geometric fountains and rockscapes with sandy-bottomed pools are worlds away from DeBiasi’s childhood on the Mystic River, but his joy in making something beautiful where it didn’t exist before flows through them all. Seeing them, we remember the wonder of water and sky and nature and light.
